Before writing any assignment or essay, it is necessary to have an obvious understanding of the essay type to be written. Evaluative essay writing is not the exception. Evaluative essay writers should be certain that they know the type of essay before starting to create it.
Actually, to valuate means to appraise, assess, examine, or study the chosen topic. Thus, an evaluative essay assesses, appraises, studies, or examines a topic, an issue, or a subject.
When an essay just states the main features of the problem, this is not considered an evaluative essay. For example, here is an evaluation of a mobile phone:
“The color is golden and golden is a nice color for a mobile. But it has an awful ring tone.”
There is not an evaluation of the issue and not an evaluative essay. But what can you do to make it an evaluative essay? The writer should explain why golden is a nice color for a mobile, why it has an awful ring tone etc.
The color is golden. It is a nice color for a mobile, as golden will appeal to females and males alike. Some mobiles are blue or pink. Blue and pink can sexualize the phone, as traditionally blue is for males and pink is for females. For this phone is golden, it will appeal to males and females alike. So the mobile manufacturer will put on the market more phones, as it will attract both sexes.
The mobile has an awful ring tone, though this may be changed. It has numerous alternative ring tones plus extra ring tones may be downloaded from the Internet.
The two statements have been evaluated. Every statement regarding the mobile has been evaluated and the writer’s opinion is evident. So, it has turned into an evaluative essay.
